Clan Chief Donald MacLaren Ehrengast in Wuppertal

Wir freuen uns außerordentlich, unseren Clan Chief Donald MacLaren of MacLaren and Achleskine auf den diesjährigen 7th. Scottish Days / Highland Games am 27. und 28. August 2016 in Wuppertal begrüßen zu dürfen.

Lange Zeit war sein Besuch unklar, denn Donald MacLaren of MacLaren feiert dieses Jahr sein 50 jähriges Chief-Jubiläum in Balquhidder/Schottland. Da Kinsmen aus der ganzen Welt geladen sind und er selbst, vor unserem Termin, nach Nord Amerika, zu den Grand Father Highland Games der MacLaren reisen wird, war sein Besuch nicht sicher. Doch vor einigen Tagen erhielten wir die schriftliche Zusage, dass er uns in Deutschland besuchen und als Ehrengast unsere Veranstaltung begleiten wird.

Da passt es auch sehr gut, dass wir dieses Jahr den Zuschlag für die Deutschen Meisterschaften und die NRW Landesmeisterschaften der Teams erhalten haben. Ebenso liegen bereits Zusagen aus Deutschland und den Niederlanden zur 2. Bagpipe-Competition vor – alles in allem ein würdiger Rahmen!

In diesem Zusammenhang freuen wir uns natürlich auch über viele Besucher der Clan MacLaren Society, die in Deutschland wohnen und die Gelegenheit beim Schopfe packen wollen, Donald MacLaren of MacLaren persönlich treffen und sprechen zu können. Ebenso herzlich willkommen sind alle befreundeten Clans, die uns bereits seit vielen Jahren besuchen und mit denen uns inzwischen auch eine sehr persönliche Freundschaft verbindet. Unsere Einladungen habt Ihr ja schon vor einiger Zeit erhalten.

Als weiteren besonderer Gast möchten wir Trevor MacLaren aus Australien begrüßen, der uns ebenso in Wuppertal besuchen wird. Das ist bislang mit Abstand der Gast, der die weiteste Anreise zu den Scottish Days / Highland Games in Wuppertal auf sich nehmen wird.

Dazu können wir nur sagen – die Mitglieder der schottischen MacLaren Society und die Friends of Clan MacLaren freuen sich sehr über diesen phantastischen Zuspruch, der offensichtlich bereits „globale Dimensionen“ angenommen hat.

Somit, liebe Freunde und Interessenten, es lohnt sich definitiv, auch dieses Jahr wieder zu uns nach Wuppertal zu kommen und mit uns gemeinsam zwei wunderbare Tage in schottischer Atmosphäre, mit schottischer Gastfreundschaft und einem phantastischen Rahmenprogramm zu verbringen.

16th Highland Clan Gathering – Peine

Alle Clans freundschaftlich vereint – Clan MacLeod, MacLaren, MacFarlane, MacGregor, McEl, MacKenzies und Coesfeld.

From 2th to 5th May, a delegation from the Friends of ClanMacLaren visited the „16th Highland Gathering and International Pipe Band Championship 2014“ in Peine. We spent three wonderful days with our friends from the clans MacLeod, McEl, MacKenzie, MacFarlane and MacGregor, the Highland Clan Coesfeld and the men from the Bull Skull MC Peine N. S.

It was a really successful event, which began with a delegation in the BrauManufaktur Härke GmbH on Friday. Saturday we had many conversations and interested visitors on our Clan Tent in the Clan Village.

We were particularly pleased the visit of Mary Wichmann, born MacLaren, in our clan tent. But many other visitors were very interested on the family and asked for the story, history and the presence of the Clan MacLaren. In the evening the clans followed the invitation of the Clan MacLeod into the Bull Skull MC Peine N. S. clubhouse. Here we were treated very warmly and royally! A great atmosphere, lots of new friends and great conversations require a big thank you to the Clan MacLeod and the MC! Excellent party, guys!

On Sunday visited again thousands of visitors the city park of Peine, although it was a bit cloudy and fresh. For the first time the Friends of Clan MacLaren organized a clan-village-internal „Tug of War“, in which the ladies of the Clan MacLeod, MacFarlane and MacGregor could take home the trophy for 1st place. A men’s mix of the clans MacLeod, MacLaren, MacGregor, McEl and the guys from the MC Bull Skull Peine N.S. participated in the official Tug o`war part and won against the 2nd national champions the 2nd place. That was great and we are proud of our guys!

Thanks to the organizers. It was a really successful event with many stalls, pipers, dance groups and athletes.

We are already looking forward to next year and will definitely come back!

Highland Gathering Peine 2013

On 04 and 05 May our delegation visited the „15th Highland Gathering and International Pipe Band Championship 2013“ in Peine. There we spent two wonderful days with our friends of the clan MacLeod, MacKenzie, MacFarlane and MacGregor and the Highland Clan Coesfeld.

We had also the honor of the Scottish Minister for Public Relations with our friends of the Clan MacLeod. As always, all was very hospitable and we have a lot of  fun. On two days we listening the sounds of the Highland Bag Piper from all over the world. Really impressive.
